What's the plan
The Sustainability Summer School is an educational and enriching international experience that will help you build a solid understanding of sustainability, while sharpening your ability to identify needs and challenges, and raise environmental awareness through critical thinking and problem-solving.
Throughout the week, you'll also have the chance to connect with fellow students and young professionals who share your commitment to making a difference — all while enjoying the astonishing surroundings of Ponta Delgada.

Why you should join

You will identify how sustainability issues impact your immediate social, economic, and personal circumstances in order to work independently and take sustainable actions to achieve personal goals and stick to intentions.

You will reflect on personal values, developing awareness and management of emotions, thoughts, and behavior to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. Learn how to navigate through open platforms and digital services using reliable data and documentation to support their sustainable consumption.

You will practice sustainable consumption patterns like consumer choices to learn how to think and behave ethically by assessing the responsibility and impact of your actions.

In Detail: Activities
Thanks to 30 hours of certified training you will take part in:
An online onboarding experience (pre-event).
EucA activities: training & workshops.
Visits to the University of Azores, including to the Institute of Research in Volcanology and Risk Assessment (IVAR's) and the Center for Information and Seismovolcanic Surveillance of the Azores (CIVISA)
Visit to: Life IP Azores Natura, in Lagoa do Fogo
Volunteering activities
Whale watching tour


Methodology

Engage in real-world experience and apply your new knowledge from day one. The activities at the Sustainability Summer School are action-oriented and include field trips, simulations, experiments, role-playing, and interactive demonstrations, so get ready to put your skills into practice!

You will research, analyze, and apply critical thinking to real-world problems. What's more, you will be able to use this methodology in the future to implement it in your academic life.

Explore ideas, unpack complex information, and articulate your thoughts:
this method will grant you a deeper understanding of all the concepts brought to the table.
