Immigration: A different approach from Youth Solidarity- The concrete experience of the European Halls of Residence.
On 23 April took place the 9th event of “Action Europe of Solidarity” (A4EUS). the Europe for Citizens project that put together different realities to share experiences on migrations at a local level. The objective is to promote an inter-cultural and open dialogue to understand migrations and improve narrative in Europe.
The event is part of a series of 14 international events that have been organised by EucA, and happened hybridly: more than 50 people followed the discussion in streaming and about 20 people in person from Collegio Mazza in Rome.
A special video welcomed the participants collecting testimonials of EucA University Colleges’ students, volunteers in different realities locally and internationally. Their perspective confirmed that volunteering activities are a wonderful tool for students education and personal growth.
As highlighted by the EucA president Gian Luca Giovannucci, for young people helping others is also a unique way of developing personal skills to get a complete formation. “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone else” he said by citing a Chinese Proverb.
More students shared their experiences live, opening a discussion on the importance of solidarity for young people: the foundation of mutual understanding for an inter-cultural dialogue.
