Held in Madrid the main event of the EU project “Volunteering and civic construction of Europe”

On 7 October 2011, more than 100 EUCA students met experts and politicians concrete proposals for a greater recognition of volunteering activities during "Volunteering and civic construction of Europe", main event of the EU Project with the same title funded through the Youth in Action 5.1 EU programme.

Young students coming from the Italian University Colleges of the CCU (Conferenza dei Collegi Universitari legalmenti riconosciuti), from the English colleges of NEA (Netherhall Educational Association), from the Polish Colleges of Warsaw University of Technology, from the Belgian Neussart College and also from Schweidt, a German College from Cologne, together with numerous pairs coming from Spanish Colleges, met Susana del Río, member of the Experts Committee of the European Commission on Citizens and governance in the knowledge based society, Ana Maria Costa Freitas, member of the Bureau of European Policy Advisers, Alejandro Cercas, Member of the European Parliament, journalist Ramiro Villapadierna, Rocío González, Director of the Senara Foundation, Oscar Cortés, chief in Madrid of the Club in Public Management of ESADE.
The participants were welcomed by Marta Mùgica, responsable of Communication and Netwokrs at the Representation Office of the European Commission in Spain.

For all the speakers the conference was the right occasion to confirm their strong committment in European issues, above all during the ongoing financial crisis. Therefore, the volunteering activities was depicted as one of the more effective tools to strenghten the Citizenships' feelings of European citizens.
