EU Project "El voluntariado en la construcciòn ciudadana de Europa"
EUCA, together with its member partners and the German College Schweidt, participates in the EU Project "El voluntariado en la construcciòn ciudadana de Europa" lead by the Spanish Colleges of CCM, from September 2011 to April 2012.
The Project aims to bring together and strengthen the concept of volunteering and creativity as tools and sources of European citizenship, and it is financed by Youth in Action European programme 5.1.
The project stands around a major event planned in Madrid on 7th October that involved 110 Collegiate students invited to discuss with politicians and stakeholders about volunteering.
Speakers at the Madrid event (held at the European Representation Office in Spain) were: Susana del Río, member of the Experts Committee of the European Commission on Citizens and governance in the knowledge based society, Ana Maria Costa Freitas, member of the Bureau of European Policy Advisers, Alejandro Cercas, Member of the European Parliament, journalist Ramiro Villapadierna, Rocío González, Director of the Senara Foundation, Oscar Cortés, chief in Madrid of the Club in Public Management of ESADE.The participants were welcomed by Marta Mùgica, responsable of Communication and Networks at the Representation Office of the European Commission in Spain, and by Gian Luca Giovannucci EUCA President. The audience was also addressed by Mikel Aramburu, on behalf of the Spanish Colleges of CCM.
Before the celebration of the transnational meeting in Madrid, each national team drafted a document which reflected specific proposals to promote youth participation in volunteering activities and their accreditation and recognition. The proposals were submitted before the seminar to the MEPs who took part in the seminar. These documents and proposals had been the starting point for the round tables between MEP’s and the students.
After the seminar, students who participated to it, should implement direct actions of volunteering and activities to promote responsible citizenship in their respective Colleges. Once completed the implementation of these activities, students should make a brief report, whether trough a written document, video, pictures, etc. All the reports and visual materials will be included in the official DVD of the project, which will be sent to all the partners andColleges at the end.
First check on the activities promoted by the students is planned on 16 December 2011. For more see the EUCA letter to participants below.
