EU Project CELAN Launch meeting
Documenting in detail the actual linguistic needs of companies and employees, and at assessing to what extent these needs are satisfied by current language provision across different sectors and Member States: this is the aim of the new EU project of EUCA called "CELAN -Network for the promotion of language strategies for competitiveness and employability".
Born from the European Business Platform for Multilingualism it will start in Brussels with a kick-off meeting to be held on Friday 11 February.
The central project deliverable will be an on-line platform providing business users with a guided collection of linguistic support systems (self-assessment, successful practice, instructional modules, etc).
EUCA’s role in the Project is of a "multiplier", i. e. organisation with established networks that will support the project. Thus, through EUCA’s network of colleges the potential outreach of the project will go far beyond the partnership, in terms of both geographical and sectoral spread.
This first meeting will prepare the first working package of the project, which is dedicated to researching the linguistic needs of companies in different sectors and different countries and regions of Europe. EUCA will contribute with expertise in the development of the questionnaire to be used in the first survey / poll. Once completed, EUCA will run the survey in its area and lead a business sector analysis and contribute to the final report.
